4-E, We have made a free room-cooler, model Hachiko

Hachiko refrigerator, almost finished _SEM

As I explained earlier – especially Chapters 2 and 3
then there is nothing magical about this
It is just the use of the laws of nature

I will explain and show the whole process
so that anyone can make a copy – or improve the system
and have “free” cooling ahead
Only the operation of the fan and water pump requires energy
and it’s small

To move something with electricity – is very cheap
but cooling down or heating up is very expensive

*    *    *

The nature laws act to a great extent – even in this case – quite well
Here only the supply of water is required – plenty of water

The many brooms help to get the water down in all cracks
thus extending the cooling period

It is – by the way – collected rainwater they use

But such a water splash
we can not  have in Mrs Hansen’s apartment
therefore we had to find another solution

They should necessarily be the same circumstances
just under controlled conditions

After having tested many products
such as carcasses, bricks, drain pipes, etc.
we ended up at the drainage pipes

I got Alexander (local smith) to make a tripod
He immediately caught the task
It should not exceed 80 cm on any joints, incl the pipes

My wife and I had again been in Copenhagen
again teaching on the sushi course
and the stand was in the meantime manufactured, painted and delivered

We were returning to Nees at 23 on the 10th of August 2018
and of course I should immediately check:

In the meantime I had asked Jørgen (local carpenter)
make 2 big works in smoked plexiglas – and I had explained:
a bottom box 110 x 110 x h50 + plus a cape 90 x 90 x 90

“I do not understand what you think” was the answer from Jørgen
I had to deliver some line drawings
so also Jørgen was on

My original plan was a coat over the stand
and fountain at the top inside of the stand
so I could make real water splash inside the hood or cape

However, I dropped that plan again
assuming that the pipes do not get wetter than wet
And instead prayed Alexander make a spreading pipe

2018.08.22 Spreeding pipe _SEM

He made the scattered beam very elegant
so it could easily be squeezed
down the middle of the stand

I had previously secured me 4 bricks
as the coat or cape can stand on theese
placed on the bottom of the bottom box

Coat or cape and bottom basin – plus fan _TM

Yes – it all works
Jan has just been here with the holder of the fan
which exactly can push the press into the bottom cart
located just outside the big round hole in the cap
and the stand is just 10 meters away
tomorrow we can cool our little cabin down (to the right of the photo)

At night I went through my mind
and thus found a mighty problem:

The stand must be placed in the bottom basin with the 96 tubes on
then lift the hood up and lower it down over the stand
so the water stays under the hood

But UPS –  there is not that high to the ceiling in the cabin

Everything should be brought all the way around the house
to the front and into our exhibition
(exhibitio for Japanese furnitures and futons)
that was certainly not the point

The hod is moved from the Lodge _TM

The bottom basin is moved from the lodge _TM

Everything must now be assembled in the exhibition _TM

In the big round hole in the hood here the fan must be fitted
and in the smaller hole / tube at the opposite end
the cool air will come out
The hood is placed on the side  here
so I´m looking in from the bottom

96 pcs drain pipe for mounting on the stand _SEM

The bottom basin is in place in the exhibition _TM

Police Peter (our friendly neighbor) helped the 96 kg heavy stand up in the bottom basin __TM

Tomiko and I should just hang the 96 tubes (3 kg / pcs) on the stand _SEM

The hood is now placed over the stand – and the fan in front of the hole _SEM

A small aquarium pump is located at the bottom of the basin
and connected to the spreading pipe
The fan is connected and fitted into the hole

Aquarium pump m 1000 L / h is not enough _SEM

I presumed 1,000 l of water per hour would be full enough
but no
We had to buy a dive pump with 8,000 l / h
and have made 3 rows of holes on each side of the spreading pipe
then it started to look like something good

However, this problem is due to our machine’s abusive capacity

We can cool the 120 sqm exhibition 3 dgr down in just 20 minutes

For a regular apartment it’s way too much
we drove the temperature down from 23.8 to 20.1 in the 20 minutes

Temperature can go down only to 20 dgr

For the good reason, I must repeat
It is of course the same 70 l of water running around
inside the Hachiko

The cool air comes out at the other side of the hood
the opposite end of  the fan

But all these minor problems are now all changed
The system is running as expected

That´s not right  – because run it does not
because there is nothing moving in the system
nothing can be worn out
apart from the exterior things – fan and water pump

With the experience I have harvested in recent weeks
I will think
that this Hachiko cooling machine is (at least) 75% too big

Of course, 25% of the size shown here must be enough
for cooling an average apartment
cooling with 8-9 degrees
If there is at least 30 dgr. in the room

The effect is the same
if there is 30 or 40 dgr in the room

These 8-9-10 dgr down  – just the part
that makes the room go from “just too much”
down to bearable

Had I just known it 2 months ago
so many thousands of kroner could be saved
but at the start I had no idea about the cooling effect

On the other side
it makes me very happy
that this is how it works
because now
Hachiko in family size can be made for under DKK 1,000-
and that´s a price that 80% of the world’s population can pay

Wow
by this the world can save at least 100,000 lives annually in the future

Here you are

Hachiko The Cooler is hereby released to anyone to continue working with it
Everyone is welcome to make their own version

At the same time, I have ensured that no one can patent the system itself
It is now free to anyone on Earth

But anyone can further develop on this clumsy system
develop an elegant “device”
maybe an intermediate between a vacuum cleaner and a refrigerator

And this new “device” can be patented
