Except (maybe) the dog Lassie
is the dog Hachiko the one in the world most famous
and certainly the dog who has brought most tears
probably hundreds or thousands of times more tears than Lassie
Professor Ueno
(Dr. Hidesaburo Ueno, Teacher at the University of Tokyo)
He had a Japanese Akita dog
probably the most faithful dog that has existed on our planet
Hachiko picked up the professor every day at the station
but on May 21, 1925, the professor did not come home
He was not on the train
was suddenly dropped dead at the university
Hachiko continued for 9 years to go to the train every day at 16:00
and sit and wait a couple of hours
until March 8, 1935 – where Hachiko himself died
The history spread throughout Japan
There is made already two international films about Hachiko
and in more places in Japan there is a statue of him

Most tourists flock for a photo together with Hachiko
and should you meet with someone in Tokyo
so it is most often at Hachiko
Everything else is difficult

My wife and I saw the movie in a plane heading home from Japan
We both have easy tears emotionally
but none of us have cried so many tears – like over Hachiko
not even 25% of the Hachiko tears
That faithfulness goes well right into the heart

The thing here on Earth
which comes closest to the faithfulness of the dog Hachiko
–
is
– completely unparalleled –
Hachiko, the cooling machine
it will work – until the owner one day does not come home
There is nothing mechanical in the Hachiko cooling machine
nothing moveable
It can never be worn out
The exterior – fan and water pump – will of course be worn out
but never the construction itself
Therefore, the cooling machine is named Hachiko
