A bit of the story behind the Hachiko cooler
I have been wondering for a long time
why not someone invents an elegant system
so you can help the hundreds of millions of people around the world
who do not have access to the aircon
and thousands and thousands of people die each year
As I mentioned on the first page
it is not only in poor countries people die
In “the world’s leading country” – as they themselves call it – the USA
every year more persons die of heat –
than all other natural disasters combined
Well, what on Earth is that?
they – and many other countries with heat-deaths –
can make the world’s most killing killer weapon
but to make sure that their elderly
and their little children do not die in the heat
that´s a thing they don´t touch
It’s so low tech – so little career creation
that nobody – with a nice education – will touch the problem
* * *
I therefore made an article about Uchimizu a year ago, 2017.08.08
urged readers to invent this system
explained it almost entirely – the article is here (Danish)
No reaction
I made another article in the fall of 2017
– chill a room 6-8 dgr down – here (Danish)
where I went even more in detail regarding explanations
Just one person – Dennis – responded, called many times
but after a handful of weeks the task was no longer interesting
I decided to wait half a year
because there certainly must be someone out there
who can see how simple the system is
But again no – not a single respondent
Then it became summer 2018
In both Japan and South Korea, people began to die again
a couple of handfuls daily per country
Then it did not go anymore
I had to do it myself
We – my wife and I
should and shall at the same time take care of our small business
selling Japanese furniture and futons
but all the hours I could do daily
I worked on the construction
In addition, the name of the design was kosame at the beginning
and website – in that name – was bought
(Kosame is Japanese and means “light rain”)
I calculated in my mind
how the design should be
Alexander from Vestjysk Smede and plumbing made the stand
Emanuel Fabricius had 100 farmed drainage pipes on a farm
Jørgen Møller and Jan from Nees Totalentreprise,
glued basin and coat in plexiglass
as well as made a holder for the fan
We needed a lot of testing and experiments
we have tested with eg. brick (one can absorb ½ l of water)
with cloths, etc.
Our bathtub has been filled with drain pipes
And faithfully Tomiko – my dear wife (through now 27 years)
helped at 22-23-24 in the evening
with among others to wipe up and clean up after me
Fortunately, most experimentation took place
in the hot weeks of May, June and July
where there was actually over 25 dgr.
which made it a lot easier
I am very pleased that this has now been achieved
not that the Hachiko cooler is now ready for sale
it is not at all
Now engineers and / or other good people must make a useful version
This first model weighs almost 400 kilos
is very unmanageable
and almost non removeable
In a few months, clever heads have made a 4-wheel version
weighing maybe 10-15 kg
and only then can Mrs. Hansen enjoy the system
But I’m incredibly happy
that this first step has now been taken
so that I can start my next step soon
far more significant than this
